About us
This family run business is owned and operated by Katherine and Gustavo de la Cruz. We started Pupachinos in September 2018 with our three dogs; Athos, Maya and Nicco! Nicco was our rescue pup who came with a TON of energy! Her older siblings were not interested in keeping up with a puppy, so Katherine had the idea to open our home to some pups during the daytime so Nicco could have friends! The idea for Pupachinos was born in that moment; but we never imagined where this idea would lead our family. We opened with a super small capacity, only 6 pups, and the aim of providing a home like atmosphere. We wanted your pups to feel like there were in their second home! We have indoor and outdoor couches, kennel free day play, daycare activities, holiday photo shoots, a set nap time, and personal communication including photos and texts daily.
In 2019 we had grown out of our living room and moved our daily activities into a studio suite just across the driveway from our home. We then had a dedicated space for the pups to play indoors and outdoors without needing to be leashed for transport. We added K9 grass (astroturf) that same year to ensure an allergy free, clean and sterilized outdoor environment for play in any weather! Then in 2021 we added our 6 foot privacy fence to ensure safety and calmness while outside playing. We also won Best of Leavenworth as the #1 place to board your pups.
Over the years, we have grown in experience, capacity (now at 25 pups), and setup but our dedication to our moto has never wavered. Pupachinos provides dog care in a real home setting. We are still family owned and operated so every interaction is with us and we are the people interacting with your pups daily. We continue to keep safety and cleanliness as our top priorities so that we can remain the best place to take your pup in Leavenworth, KS!
Baby Nicco still attends daycare regularly, though she's not such a puppy anymore (she just turned 6 last December)! But her face is our logo and our reminder that making friends and treating each dog like a guest in our home is our ultimate guiding light.
